The Canary Islands have an special tax status within Spain. There´s no Valued Added Tax on Gasoline, Tabacco, Alcohol and Electronics. which makes them much cheaper than in mainland Spain, but you may find your supermarket or your grocery store much more expensive than in Spain , specially fresh products such as fruit and vegetables, because the cost of transport mainly coming from outside of the Canaries.
When you are resident in the Canary Islands you´ll get a 40% discount on your national travels, may be by sea, or air.
The Balearic Islands cost of living is similar to mainland Spain, that includes groceries, apartment/flat rentals. Air travel when you are resident in the Balearics will be 40% cheaper.
