BANKS IN SPAIN - CURRENCY EXCHANGE - BANKING

Banks in Spain can be a costly need. They can charge a lot money on "service commissions" , currency exchange, and using outside ATM´s. When opening an account you´ll need a passport or ID, and they may ask you to be working in the country or having funds availeable

 

Here´s the main banks with low or no commissions and easy banking.

International banks with offices in Spain, Deutsche Bank, Barclays, Citibank, Lloyds, Solbank

SPANISH BANK ACCOUNTS

Spanish Bank accounts have a total of a 20 digit number:

XXXX (Entity) XXXX(Office nº) XX(DC) XXXXXXXXXX(Accnt nº)

If you are transfering funds from a European country you´ll need to add your IVAN account (starts with ES plus a 2 digit number followed by your account number).

CURRENCY EXCHANGE

Due to the high commissions banks in Spain charge when exchanging currency we suggest you bringing your €´s from your home country, or if you have an account in Spain having your funds transferred. Traveller checks or using your bank or credit card it´s a good option also.
