Álava

This province is the largest and least populated of Euskadi. Its capital, Vitoria-Gasteiz, is capital of the Basque Country also. For lovers of medieval history, this is the right place to visit. In Álava we'll find many villas that retain the walls of the times marked by clashes between former kingdoms and the struggle between the nobles, as well as palaces, churches and other buildings of the era. Between locations are important defensive elements such as the ones in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Laguardia, Antoñana, Salinillas de Buradón, Salvatierra, Labraza, Peñacerrada-Urizaharra, Korres and Artziniega.
