As we leave the metropolitan area of Barcelona we can discover the other side of the Province of Barcelona, where the Old Medieval Towns, castles and the countryside of Catalunya join toghether to offer us great places to discover, and new adventures.

Budhist Monastery El Garraf
first a group of villages close to Barcelona, and during the fifties started to receive frequent visitors. Near Castelldefells we can visit the Natural Park of Garraf, near the sea, ideal for walking or biking, with pine trees and holm oaks. The Palace of Novella, in the heart of the Natural Park of Garraf, hosts the first budhist temple in Catalunya. The beach of Castelldefells receives many visitors every year, and it´s about 18km from Barcelona. Here we can do our favorite sports, we can swimm in the tranquil waters of the Mediterranean Sea and enjoy the sunshine.

Sardañola del Vallés(Cerdanyola del Vallès): The Municipality of Sardañola it´s part of the Vallés Occidental District, and it´s part of the Collserola Mountain Range, one of the biggest metropolitan parks in the world, and surrounded of the river valleys of Besós and Llobregat.
Collbató(Baix Llobregat): It´s a medieval and rural town of Barcelona.
The historical heritage which is made of consists in churches, hermitages and over all the mountain scenary and nature surrounding the area. The town of Collbató was for centuries the main gate or entry to Montserrat, landmark of the municipality. Thousands pilgrims from all over the places, and visitors searching for peace come annually to Colbató. We can also visit the Salitre Caves, the Museum, the old oil mill, the internationally known Organ Workshop of Blancafort, and the Church of Sant Corneli, completing a marvelous walk along town.
Esplugas de Llobregat: The locality of Esplugas is also fairly closed to Barcelona. It has a significative Old Town, unique in the region, with picturesque streets such as the Calle Montserrat or Can Cortada. The mountain of San Pedro Mártir, which we can walk, it´s the natural balcony of the municipality, with astounding views of the region. In Esplugas de Llobregat we can also visit the Can Cinturé Museum, a tile museum, pioneering exhibition in Spain of beautifull tiles.
Granollers: Granollers it´s found in the Valley of Vallés, north of Barcelona and 15km from the coast. The most remarkable landmark it´s La Porxada, right in the town centre built between 1586 and 1587. There is also rests of old medieval walls, and the El La Adobería d´en Ginebreda, already documented in the 15th century. Granollers it´s also a very lively town, with many places to go and nightlife. The nearby coast will make us enjoy beaches and countryside at the same time. The nearest airport to Granollers it´s El Prat, Barcelona´s Airport, about 12km away.
Hospitalet de Llobregat: Hospitalet it´s between the municipalities of Barcelona, Esplugas de Llobreget, Cornellá de Llobregat and El Prat de Llobregat. It´s the second most populated town of Catalunya. Hospitalet it´s a lively town, with many places to go, sports to be made, live concerts and nightlife. At the same time it´s a medieval town divided in two. The first one, from the 12th century, it´s around the Santa Eulália de Provencana church, and the second it´s around the Torre Blanca Hospital.

Igualada: Igualada it´s about 60km from Barcelona, in the interior

of the Province of Catalunya. The main local activities are the textiles industry, paper and leather. It also host the only
Balloon Factory in Spain. The historical heritage in the Old Town has many places to visit. The leather museum of Igualada was founded in 1954 and was the first one in Spain. Igualada celebrates as well many celebrations all year long, plus the European Balloon Festival in July, the biggest Balloon Concentration in Spain.

Malgrat de Mar: The Municipality of Malgrat de Mar it´s in the catalonian district of Maresme. It´s a coastal town with 7km of beaches, hotels, and campings. The places to visit in Malgrat de Mar it´s the San Nicolás Church, and the castle, with beautifull views of town, beaches, and countryside.

Mataró: We´ll find Mataró by the Mediterranean Sea, 30km from Barcelona. Mataró has important historical landmarks, and many nearby beaches. Mataró it´s also very lively at night and has many festivities.

Molins de Rey: It belongs to the metropolitan area of Barcelona. It´s a very visited place in Catalunya, with an important heritage.
