Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is the most populated island of the province and the second most populated island of the Canarian archipelago after Tenerife. The old native inhabitants of the island were called canarians, who had followed adjective used to refer to the inhabitants of Gran Canaria until a few decades we can still hear, in other Canary Islands and Gran Canaria itself. Together with the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura is the province of Las Palmas, capital of the island is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (archipelago's most populous city with 381,123 inhabitants), also capital of the eastern province (Las Palmas) and the Community region of the Canary Islands, along with Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Gran Canaria is a natural paradise featuring a wide variety of climates, due to both to its strategic geographical location and the effect of winds coming from Africa, clear landscape differences that arise in different regions of the island. Gran Canaria has also 32 Natural protected areas, most notably the Nublo Country Park, Doramas Forest, Barranco de Azuaje, Tamadaba, Inagua, and so on. The are rocks of stone volcanic formations that are erected in the landscape such as the Roque Nublo (symbol and landmark of the island), Cura (also known as the Friar), The Finger of God(Dedo de Dios), Bentayga, the Roque de Gando, and Peñon Bermejo. The most recognized and important beaches recognized on the island are Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés Beach, Las Canteras beach, Puerto Rico, La Laja, San Augustine, and so on. Each one of them with it´s own landscape and distinctive charm.

Within the northwest of Gran Canaria we´ll find some ancient volcanoes such as Arucas Mountain, Pico and Caldera de Bandama, and other ancient volcanoes such as "Tenteniguada boilers" or volcanoes, Temisas and Tirajana. Also there is some plains. Here are the cliffs of Telde Guayadeque and Tirajana. In the northeast corner is a small peninsula called La Isleta, together with the rest of the island by the Isthmus of Guanarteme, with the beaches of Las Canteras and Las Alcaravaneras.
The oldest part of the island with numerous gullies, this area belongs also to the center of the island, where we can find its maximum altitudes, notably furthermore the Tamadaba massif, with its cliffs. The Faneque Risco, which is a few meters from the coast, has an altitude of 1,096 meters above sea level. In this zone lies the cliffs of Aldea, Agaete, Arguineguín and Fataga, among others. Worth noting is the special nature reserve of Dunas de Maspalomas, a major tourist area in the Canary Islands, along with accompanying Playa del Inglés beach.

Airport: The main roads of the island and the outside Puerto de La Luz (the capital), Puerto de Las Nieves (in the municipality of Agaete important maritime route inter) and the Airport of Gran Canaria. It is located about 20 km from the city on the east slope of the island, between the towns of Telde and Ingenio. The No 5 bus takes us from the terminal to las Palmas.
Roads:
Major roads include motorways: the motorway GC-1 is the main motorway of the island, from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the tourist area to the south through the southeast coast, the highway GC-2, which connects the island capital with Agaete back bone of the northern slope, and the Ring of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which runs through the metropolitan area, consists of highways GC-3, GC-4, GC - 23 and GC-31.
