La Gomera has a great tradition of wines since in the late fourteenth century the first vines were brought to the island. Since 2003 their wines have a spanish "Designation of Origin". The wines of La Gomera are grown in the north and south of the island in the municipalities of Valle Gran Rey, Alajeró, Hermigua-Angulo and Vallehermoso.

La Gomera island has a long tradition in Canarian gastronomy. Its quality cheeses have pulled numerous awards in international contests, and today the Gomera island cheese is recognized as one of the best in the world.

 

Among the different classes are soft goat cheese, semi-cured, cured, and different varieties of sheep´s cheese.
