Arquitecture in La Gomera
The architecture of La Gomera is based on the early settlers of the island that used the natural resources and themselves to build their own houses, farmers and the population often built their own homes. This is evident in many houses and auxiliary buildings of La Gomera Island, such as old dryers, furnaces, mills and what they were habitat for animals and seeds to store.
The roots of the craft arts in La Gomera and the rest of the Canary Islands comes from pre-Hispanic times. Traditionally the pottery without a wheel, artisans and artifacts were made by the ancient town inhabitants to meet their needs. The gomeran pottery is still done by hand with old traditional methods of mud, sand and ocher.

This was a communication tool used by the aboriginal Gomerans, today is an optional subject in schools of La Gomera. Its mechanism is reduced to the tongue and hard palate with the optional aid of one or two fingers. A mechanism with a very limited possibilities joint that allows only two vowels and four consonants. The Gomera whistle is a substitute of Castilian spoken and cultural heritage of La Gomera.
