On the first night a huge mountain rised from the bosom of the earth and of the top escaped burning flames that continued for nineteen days, few days later formed a new pit and a stream of lava rushed at Timanfaya, over Rodeos and on a part of Mancha Blanca.."

National Park of Timanfaya: This park of volcanic origin in the towns of Yaiza and Tinajo, their eruptions occurred between 1730 and 1736. The National Park of Timanfaya has over 25 volcanoes, some landmarks of Lanzarote and as emblematic as of Montaña de Fuego(Fire Mountain), Montaña Rajada(Rajada Mountain) or Caldera del Corazoncillo.
Archipiélago Chinijo Natural Park: This is a group of islands that lies off the coast south of Morocco, It integrates the main islands of Montaña Clara, Alegranza and La Graciosa, which is the only one inhabited by some 660 inhabitants and the small islets of Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste. This archipelago is the largest marine reserve in Europe.
La Corona Natural Monument: This is a 600 meters high volcano in the town of Haria. We are not surprised by these natural habitat where people lives, with 8 people in the town of Escamas and Guatifay with 5 people.

La Geria Protected Landscape
In the towns of Yaiza, Tias, Tinajo, San Bartolomé(St. Bartholomew) and Teguise, the uniqueness of this landscape is used with the cultivation of vines for wine production. It borders to the west the Volcanoes Park, which surrounds the Timanfaya National Park.

Los Volcanes Natural Park: This stunning park is a visit that we can not escape in Lanzarote, with km and km of dark rocks and lunar landscape, the park it´s surrounded on its western limit by the Natural Park of Timanfaya.
Los Ajaches Natural Monument: The Ajaches is a volcanic outcrop in the
south of the island of Lanzarote, Canary Islands, extending from the Punta del Papagayo (Lanzarote's southern tip) to the vicinity of Playa Quemada (center). In the far southwest, the northern limit of which is located between Uga and Yaiza, it shows an impressive landscape of white houses cube-shaped green crops on a background of lava desert.
Cueva de los Naturistas Natural Monument: In the center of the island of Lanzarote, in the municipalities of Tias and Tinajo, this volcanic tube-shaped mouth forms an unique geomorphological and highly representative structure of the islands. You can see lava galleries and rooms of a great scientific interest. The whole area is of a great beauty receiving a special status among all the caves in the islands.

Sitio de Interés Científico del Janubio: In the municipality of Yaiza the site of scientific interest is an important place of refuge, nesting and migrating of aquatic birds putting many of them protected by national legislation and international conventions.
