Iruña called in Euskera, Pamplona is the capital and financial center of the region of Navarre, is located in the north of the Iberian Peninsula and central basin of Pamplona. Pamplona was founded in 74 BC C. by the Roman general Pompey on a preexisting village called Iruña "or" bengod ", becoming one of the most important towns of the Basque territory. It straddles the River Arga, and the main industry are the automotive plants, wind energy, construction materials, metallurgy, paper and graphic arts. It is the financial and commercial center of Navarre, as well as its administrative center. Among its most representative monuments include the Cathedral, the church of San Saturnino, the church of St. Nicholas, the Citadel or the Counting House, all declared of cultural interest. Its nearest airport is in neighboring Noáin, and its railway station is in the neighborhood of St. Jorge. His best-known tradition are the Sanfermines.

Castillo Sq, Pamplona: With its famous kiosk in the center, this famous square remains the scene of major events in Iruña, markets, rallies, parades, tournaments and so on. It is also a meeting point for locals, with many terraces and cafes, some of which are emblematic of the city. From it arise also many of the narrow streets towards the Old Town of Pamplona, where we pleased to see eighteenth century houses, with its bright windows, turrets, lofts, and balconies.
Navarra Palace: Located next to the Plaza del Castillo, is the symbol of the historical identity of Navarra. Public access is only for groups of 25 to 50 people by appointment.
General Archive of Navarra: This former palace of the twelfth century, has a consultation room, specialized library and auditorium.
Pamplona Planetarium: Opened in 1993, has the largest dome in the world with 20mts in diameter. Culture and science reference has more than 100,000 visitors annually.

The city has two universities: the Public University of Navarra and the University of Navarra. The first, founded in 1987, had 7300 students in the 2007-08 academic year and ranks as the 28th university in Spain as mentioned by the spanish newspaper El Mundo. The second, founded in 1952, is privately owned, and owned and managed by Opus Dei. In the 2007-08 academic year had 13,490 students and ranks as the 8th of Spain. Also it is located in a center of the Nacional University of Distant Education(UNED).

District of San Juan(Donibane): This is where the night starts. The district is located west of downtown and we'll find the most important pubs and the clubs of Pamplona.
Iturrama: The name comes from the spring or ferruginous source that existed at the end of the actual street Fuente del Hierro, Iturrama means spring. Near downtown, south of the city's pubs and breweries are quieter but never the less loads of crowd.

The San Fermin is a festival in honor of San Fermin, held annually in Pamplona, Navarra. The festivities begin with the launch of the famous txupinazo or loud bang from the balcony of Pamplona City Hall at 12 noon on July 6, and ends at 24h on 14th of July with the traditional "Pobre de mi(Poor me)", a song of farewell. One of the most famous acts of San Fermin is the enclosure, which consists of a 849 meters of race ahead of the bulls and culminates in the Pamplona bullring. The closures are taking place every day between 7 and the 14th of July and start at eight in the morning, with an average duration of two to three minutes. It is considered one of the best celebrations in the world, next to the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Venice and Cologne, and the Munich Beer Fest.
The American writer Ernest Hemingway was one of those who helped to propagate the tradition through his book "Fiesta".

Transports in Pamplona | How to get there | Navarra
Pamplona has a radial structure of road side towards Huesca, Zaragoza, Logroño, San Sebastian and France. The A-15 motorway connects Pamplona, on the north, San Sebastian and on the south, Zaragoza, Madrid and Barcelona, the N-111 Pamplona to Logrono, while the N-240 connects with Jaca. It also has the Leizarán highway that connects San Sebastian Pamplona in less than an hour and the motorway to La Barranca, which communicates with Vitoria and Bilbao. The Belate tunnel facilitates land communications with the French border.
