Ajuria-Enea Palace

The Basque Government has it´s headquarters since 1980 in the Ajuria-Enea Palace, and it´s the official residence of the Lehendakari(Vasque Country President). It was built in 1918 as the residence of the family of Serafin Ajuria, and is a clear example of the Basque architecture of the period. Its name comes from the separation of the two words "Ajuriaenea" family name that built the palace (the Ajuria) declined in Euskara in the form of the genitive, coming to mean "Ajuria".

 

Old Town

Vitoria´s Old Town is one of the districts comprising the city of Vitoria in the Basque Country. Bordered on the south by the district of Ensanche, the west with Coronacion and Lovaina; Zaramaga district to the north and east by El Anglo. It covers the perimeter of the old walled medieval city. The city was practically constrained to what is now the Old Town since its foundations in the late twelfth century until the late eighteenth century. The Old Town has much of the artistic and architectural heritage of the city.

 

Santa María de Vitoria Cathedral(Old Cathedral)

The Santa María Cathedral is located in Vitoria, Basque Country, Spain. It´s a Catholic church in Gothic style. It is located on the top of the hill on which the original city was settled, founded in 1181 under the name of Victoria, by King Sancho VI of Navarre (Sancho "The Wise"), which subsequently led to the current city. With the birth of the diocese of Vitoria in 1862, acquired the status of cathedral. Santa María is also known as the Old Cathedral, to distinguish it from the New Cathedral of Vitoria.

The Cathedral of Mary Immaculate of Vitoria (Basque Country, Spain) is a Catholic church located in the central district of Lovaina in the city of Vitoria. Vitoria is connected both with the other Basque capitals as well as Madrid, as it is passing the city of motorway NI. There are two highways within its municipal boundaries and a highway in service since May 2009: The NI (Madrid-Irun), The A-620(Vitoria-Altube) and its connection with the A-68-Bilbao Logroño, and the new AP-1 in Eibar and Vitoria.

 

Railway - Vitoria´s Train Station

The Madrid-Irun in Vitoria is one of the most important stops. Half a dozen daily trains link the city of Vitoria with the capital of Spain, mainly the train service ALVIA (At 10.09 am) that, via Valladolid gets to Madrid in 3 hours 43 minutes. There are also trains linking to Castile and Leon, Galicia, Catalonia, Alicante, Asturias, Lisbon and Paris. In 2013 it expected to open a high-speed train from Madrid to Vitoria, Bilbao and San Sebastian among others.
