This beautiful province of Pontevedra it´s in the southern part of Galicia and the Rias Baixas, in the northern part of Spain. The beauty of Pontevedra lies on a countryside that differs much from the southern provinces of Spain. Pontevedra has a climate of many rainfalls and shorter summers, giving the countryside and towns of Pontevedra a surprisingly green landscapes.
The town of Pontevedra limits to the north with the towns of Barro and Campo Lameiro, Moraña, to the east with Ponte de Caldelas, Cotobade and the south by the Soutomaior, Vilaboa and Marin, and the west by the Poio and Pontevedra estuary. Access to the province can be done through the "Atlantic Motorway" AP-9 that runs through this community from Vigo, A Coruña, and certainly through Pontevedra.
The province of Pontevedra in Galicia has the Natural Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia, natural treasures in Spain, which are the famous galician islands of Cíes, Ons, Sálvora and the island of Cortegada. Pontevedra it´s a rural province and it differs much from other spanish provinces. The climate here, like other norther spanish towns it´s rainy with cold winters, and summers with pleasant temperatures.

Rias of Pontevedra|Rias Baixas|Estuaries of Galicia
There are three Rias or Estuaries in Pontevedra which are on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Along the unique Galician beauty they also have sandy beaches and clear waters. They are the Ria de Vigo, Ria de Pontevedra and Ria de Arosa.
The Ria de Arosa, or Ría de Arousa in galician is the largest of the Rias(estuaries) of Galicia. It has numerous islands and islets, which are La Toja, also Natural Park with its famous seaside resort, and the Arosa Island.

The Ría de Pontevedra is the 2nd of a group of 3 rias, and is located in the provincial capital of Pontevedra town. It is the 3rd biggest ria or estuary of Galicia with 145km. One of its main characteristics it´s the large number of bateas(Floating structures for the growing of mussels, oysters and scallops) which can be seen scattered along the Ria.

Islas Cies Islands - VigoCies Islands are at the shores of the Ria de Vigo and Natural Park since 1980. It consists of three islands, the Illa de Monteagudo or North Island, Faro Islandor , or Middle Island, and San Martino or South Island. Ons Island
This Ons Island in Pontevedra lies in the Galician town of Bueu, on the north side of the peninsula of Morrazo (Ria de Vigo). There are many beliefs and legends about the island. Many of them have roots in folk belief of the Holy Compaña.. It has a population of 70 inhabitants, and measures about 6000 mts. We can get there by ferrie from the towns of Bueu, Sanxenxo or Portonovo.

Cortegada Island
We'll find the Cortegada island at the bottom of the Ria de Arosa Estuary, almost in the Ulla River estuary in the picturesque shire of O Carril (Villagarcía de Arosa), separated by a channel of 189 meters which is an important shellfish farm of Galicia.
