Formerly known as the Kingdom of Aragon, the central region is the Valle del Ebro(Ebro´s Valley) Aragon is located in the north of Spain and borders with France and the regions of Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y Leon, Catalonia, La Rioja, Navarra and Valencia.
Average temperatures are dependent on height. The Ebro Valley has relatively mild winters, and summer temperatures can reach up to 40 ° C. In mountain areas the winters are longer and the average temperatures can be up to 10 ° C lower than in the valley. The province of Aragón has a rich history and traditions, with a clear Moorish influence, in some towns, the costume consists of a kerchief on her head (cachirulo), and open breeches, a blanket like a belt around the waist and sandals for men. The women wear wide skirts, a bra, panties, fishnet stockings, shawl, apron and sandals. Traditional songs are danced with lots of movement and great leaps. The singing is usually a note of melodic rhythm often sly. Also traditional Aragonese music endures, using instruments like the lute (whip), the Aragonese bagpipe or "gaita de boto", the flute, accordion, etc. Aragon´s capital, Zaragoza, is one of the
largest and most monumental in Spain, home to famous International Fairs and events. Covering an area of 47,719 km, the region's terrain ranges diversely from permanent glaciers to verdant valleys, rich pasture lands and orchards, through to the arid steppe plains of the central lowlands. Aragon is home to many rivers — most notably, the river Ebro — Spain's largest river in volume, which runs west-east across the entire region through the province of Zaragoza. It is also home to the Aneto, the highest mountain in the Pyrenees.
Aragón has a great scenery and centuries-old traditions and peoples.
Located in northeastern Spain, the region comprises three provinces from north to south: Huesca, Zaragoza(Province and capital), and Teruel.
The highest point in the Aragonese Pyrenees separates France and Spain. It´s peaks include the Aneto (3,404 m), Posets (3,371 m), Monte Perdido(3,355 m), Perdiguero (3,221 m), Cotiella(2,912 meters), among others. The main Pyrenean valleys are formed by rivers that are born there, just above these valleys are the famous National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. Aragon's Pyrenees include splendid and varied landscapes with soaring peaks, deep canyons, dense forests and spectacular waterfalls.
The park is dominated by the massive Treserols, the largest limestone
mass in the world. Its highest elevation is Mont Perdu, which from here descend a series of impressive mountain peaks and glacial valleys. The most characteristic and emblematic is the Valley of Ordesa, river Arazas near by, and home of the National Park, opens to the east-west direction.
but also important it´s Añisclo Canyon, crossed the Bellós river. Likewise, although not belonging to the National Park include Bujaruelo Valley in the west, and by French territory Valley and Cirque de Gavarnie, another impressive glacial valley, which at its top has the highest waterfall in Europe, with over 400 meters of vertical drop. Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park certainly boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe with its canyons, frozen lake caverns, numerous waterfalls and varied wildlife.
