Castilla -La Mancha

The land of Don Quijote, with an extension which makes it the third largest community in Spain, the landscape of Castilla La Mancha its made of large plains, old windmills and the famous Osborne bull, one of the spanish landmarks, and long and flat roads, makes her a unique place , peaceful and picturesque. Its provinces Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara and Toledo and is bordered by the spanish communities of Castile and León, Madrid, Aragon, Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia and Extremadura.

 

 

Castilla La Mancha has 5 major rivers: Tagus, Guadiana and Guadalquivir flowing into the Atlantic Ocean, and Jucar and Segura, which empty into the Mediterranean. The climate of Castilla-La Mancha is similar to the typical Mediterranean climate but with characteristics of continental climate, more extreme temperatures, very hot in summer and very low temperatures in winter.

Due to the location of this region Castilla La Mancha in the interior of Spain, the region is culturally and historically rich. The footprint of each civilization is specially marked in Toledo.

Toledo was dying place to Greek painter El Greco, and saw Joanna of Castile (Juana La Loca) reign for 51 years. The natural region known as La Mancha occupies much of the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo. His vast and arid plains are known worldwide thanks to the novel by Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote de La Mancha, most of whose adventures and activities take place in the geography of this region. Castilla-La Mancha is heir to the ancient region of New Castille, in turn, was a continuation of the ancient Kingdom of Toledo who was one of the Taifa Al-Andalus, whose capital was conquered by Alfonso VI of Castile in 1085.

 

 

The Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha emerged as such, on 15 November 1978 and was established as pre-autonomous community of Spain.
